Canberra’s festival kings at Kicks Entertainment have announced there will be no opportunity to be spat on by a Raider in Commonwealth Park this year.

They are, however, promising a ding dong 2014.

Is it just me or do Kicks have absolutely no idea how to market their product and deal with the public? Last night they post this to drum up excitement:

“Kicks has a huge FORESHORE Summer Music Festival 2013 announcement coming tomorrow. Make sure you are a subscribing member of http://www.kicksentertainment.com.au to receive it first in your inbox.”

They then spend all night posting posters of previous years to their facebook to drum up excitement. Then today the announcement is that they’re shitcanning foreshore like they did warehouse.

Canberra, the city with nothing to do for young people wanting to have some fun strikes again.

There’s plenty to do for young people in Canberra if you think beyond music festivals. For example, most cities are lucky to have one skatepark, we have five and one of them is the largest in the southern hemisphere. We’re also getting the Vans Warped tour come through this year apparently.

Yes there’s cars to burn out and wheelies to be done and don’t forget to knock over a servo or two.

Feeling adventurous, then there’s vandalism to do in the parks, uproot some trees, graffiti something.

Canberra’s a smorgasbord.

Typical ignorant post from some bitter baby boomer who probably got married & had kids in their early 20?s & now hates their life.

Gen X, first kid at 32, love my awesome life. Thanks for playing!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to call my travel agent about my next overseas holiday. That’s my job as a grown-up, because I don’t expect somebody else to arrange my fun for me. Try it yourself, if you can find time between living your fake life on Twitface and sulking about your real life.

The fact you felt the need to prove yourself to a stranger on the internet says it all.

Love it when two idiots argue. This one tells the kid to organise her own fun after admitting he/she uses a travel agent. Let me guess – for your umpteenth trip to Bankgok? No? Bali then? Typical hypocritical Canberra moron.

How is it a failure of marketing, you don’t exactly need much effort to make a bunch of s**t heads want to go some place to get s**t faced. Nor prompt a bunch of creepy middle aged pervs hoping to recapture their youth to spend the afternoon chasing scantily clad guys and girls.

It’s because Josh Dugan has moved away and Blake Ferguson is apparently getting off the drink. Two of the festival’s biggest supporters.

Oh, look, it’s Gen Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Organise your own festival, or move somewhere else.

Wow – you learn something new every day! I didn’t know that Kicks was a governmental events promoter!

*end sarcasm*

How is it Canberra’s fault that a promoter with a successful music festival on its hands is apparently unable to organise a pissup in a brewery (or a music festival in a park, if you prefer)?

There must be another reason behind cancelling Foreshore – even if the line-up isn’t as great as previous years, thousands of people will still shell out big bucks to go. I can’t quite believe that the promoter is willingly forgoing a pile of profit just because the line-up won’t be top shelf.
