The Canberra Liberals have their AGM tonight.

If you want to have a laugh at the cheapest comedy in Canberra tonight, turn up to Eastlake Football club tonight 7 pm. You should be able to walk straight in.

It sounds like it will be an excellent roast.

Jakez will be there to keep us amused and throw out some barbs over the election defeat.

Judging by the list of nominees that Barry F posted they may need a peacekeeping force there.

Maybe they could get the AFP to turn up to tazer a few people that would be fun. it would certainly put some life into them.

These are the guys that wanted to be the government, they can’t even run their own party.

[ED – I had wondered why the Libs had been even more pathetically quiet than usual]

One could throw the same statement at you BarryF.

…I suppose to some extent they could throw it at me as well. Maybe I’ll just shut up.

Well silly me but I thought it would be good to have a cross section of normal people running a party not just a bunch of lawyers or as in the case of the ALP Union officials.

From what I gather at least they have got rid of a couple of lazy big-mouth know-it-alls anyway.

Obviously Maryhow was one of those dumped or perhaps a partner of one of them.

The_Phantom I think I smell a rat from the University in maryhow. Do you think those that were dumped are stupid enough to write this drivel. Have a look at the writing style of maryhow, typical juvenille university students.

Conspiry theories came from those that create them. Time to grow up children.

“strangely curious about something that really isn’t that interesting”.

Maybe Maryhow is like one of those homophobes who are in reality homosexual, but in a political party context.

Yes Maryhow, for someone not in the Party you seem to know a lot of information and are really hammering home a certain point of view. Either you are a liar, you are doing someones dirty work for them, or you are telling the truth (but are strangely curious about something that really isn’t that interesting).

Maryhow, it’s quite clear from your previous posts that you are ineloquently hiding an agenda.

I echo Granny’s comments.

I would also say that business community contacts are great however they aren’t the only thing that makes for a good member of management committee (in fact I’d put it down the list). You can only vote for those that nominate anyway so there isn’t much I can do about that.

The real travesty of the evening was that I was not elected to policy committee. A rebuke that stung like the bee…well not really.

I think the new management committee will do a good job however (as I always say) it is up to the membership to hold them to account.

Well, I’m at home and I’m the same person now as if I was working. My IQ isn’t suddenly going to leap 10 points because I’ve got paid employment. If I go out and buy myself a fish and chip shop am I suddenly this wonderful, different business person?

I have a great deal of respect for business people, but that doesn’t make them better than me nor necessarily more fit for a particular role.

If she becomes policy convenor, she isn’t at home?

Sounds like a truth in advertising thing.

What’s wrong with a stay at home mum?

Maryhow, you’ve obviously had a chip on your shoulder for a long time now. You poor thing.

No chip on my shoulder, I vote labor and we are looking for some decent opposition and you guys can’t supply it. We had our worst election and you couldn’t even capitalise on that. How did you do against the Greens???? Yes I have some friends on the inside of your party and of course they are overjoyed at the result of your AGMM.

So let me get this right?

The Pres is a secretary, the VP is a staffer that once drove tow-trucks, the Policy Convenor is a stay at home mum, the finance director is unemployed but busy on his body corporate beating up kids on skateboards then there are a couple of kids thrown in to boot.

Will somebody from the business communiy please stand up!

PM I understand they did and the Young Lib AGM stack kept them out.

Left wing lackeys bringing our country down. Good for you? No. Bad for you. Bad for everyone.

Re-opening war wounds inflicted on our economy such as allowing unions back into work-places to bully non members. Spending more than they have to justify their existence (let’s face it, they will never make an economy’s financial position any stronger)

Left wing useless money spending dim-witted union controlled ‘the grass is greener’ impetuosity is great for Australia? Uhm no it’s not. Fail.

Yo G-Fresh – the union right of entry changes are a total beat up. The current laws allow for:

– a union organiser to go into a workplace, with 24 hours notice, to have discussions with people who are covered by their union, in break time, can be asked to leave if they offend anyone.

I can’t believe this is a story – nothing has, or will, change!

Beacause Stanhope is soo much better…

If you like I can take a picture of myself and pretend it was taken just after my spectacular failure to be elected.

Apart from that, I found it to be an enjoyable evening.

Well the bloodletting is over at the Liberal Party. Really no peace keeping force needed.

Right wing parliamentary party, right wing management committee. When will they learn.

Of the 5 elected positions 3 are Young Liberals

President Winnifred Rosser returned unopposed – she obviously did a deal.

Vice President Tio Faulkner – works for Vicki Dunne – no conflict there.

Policy Convenor – Giulia Jones thats ‘right’ Giulia with a “G”

Finance director – Robert Gunning who claims connections to the ACT business community via being on the body corporate of his building. That will raise them alot of money.

Treasurer – Henry Pike – read junior Alistair Coe (although Coe is more sensible)and the now annointed leader of the right faction with the president of the Young Libs Michael Keating.

Jakez have you got anything, any pictures.

I doubt that the ACT Liberals have the ability to organise a bloodletting – last time they did that they ended up with Zed and a swing AGAINST them in an election when Labor was on the nose. What’s the bet that they end up deciding that the election result was actually OK and then go back to sleep for the next three years while they wait for power to land in their laps?

RA cracks me up sometimes…. just noticed that Thumper has the status (Demagogue), how apt for the comment made.

demagogue |?d?m?g?g|
noun
a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.
• (in ancient Greece and Rome) a leader or orator who espoused the cause of the common people.

There should be some spectacular bloodletting…

Jakez, can you upload photos?

Zed’s dead honey, Zed’s dead.
