Saturday 6th of May, 2006 — THE DAY COMICS TAKE OVER THE WORLD
Worldwide Free Comic Book Day Comes to Canberra with Comics for All Ages!

FREE COMICS? YES, IT’S TRUE!

Nearly two thousand comic book shops around the planet will be celebrating Free Comic Book Day on Saturday the 6th of May, including Canberra’s own IMPACT COMICS!

“Now in its fifth year, Free Comic Book Day has become such an exciting day in our store.” agreed Managers Kam Noack and Mal Briggs. “This will be our second Free Comic Book Day since opening in September 2004. Last year people were lined up at the door before 9a.m. to get in on the fun and get FREE COMICS! This year we are expecting an even bigger turn out.”

Close to 2 million comic books will be given away by participating stores, and visitors will find the traditional super-heroes, crime fighters and much more. “The wide array of comic books published today ensures that readers of all ages – children, teens, and adults – can find something appropriate that will stir their imaginations,” said Mal. “Come by on the 6th of May and let us show you what’s out there – for free!”

“Impact Comics is thrilled to celebrate the fifth annual Free Comic Book Day,” said Kam, “since we opened in 2004, we have hosted several special events including creator appearances and signings with tremendous support from our the local comics fans. Free Comic Book Day is an opportunity to offer a special thank you to our loyal customers and to help new customers gain an interest in the wonderful art of comics.”

Check out your favorite superhero or villain in Star Wars, Justice League or X-Men / Runaways! If you’re a manga fan have no fear, Tokyopop presents a compilation of three great manga series. Another great compilation of comics available on Free Comic Book Day is Image Comics’ Future Shock. Get one comic and find eight brand new, four page scenes from eight ongoing comics!

Archie Comics, Simpsons, G.I. Joe, The Transformers and Disney’s Uncle Scrooge are familiar favorites that will keep readers entertained for hours. In total there will be over 20 different comic titles printed especially for the day!

For those who are new to comics, don’t fret: IMPACT COMICS is once again proud to offer Wizard Presents the Top 100 Trade Paperbacks of All Time #1 from the publishers of Wizard magazine. It’s a thorough listing of popular stories from the history of comics, and it’s completely free!

Regular updates, information about comic books, and lists of participating publishers (and their comics) are all online at www.FreeComicBookDay.com.

Free Comic Book Day kicks off at 9a.m. and runs until 6p.m. at Impact Comics, Level 1, 45 East Row, Canberra (Bay 3 of the Civic Bus Interchange). Call (02) 6248 7335 for more information.

Congrats of getting free advertising on the site!

It’s a shame the the staff at this so-called comic shop wouldn’t know customer service if it came up to the counter and loudly tapped it’s fingers on the counter in front of 2 staff members.

Seeing as this is an advert, check out Canberra’s finer comic shops that are also involved in Free Comic Book Day: House of Heroes and Dee’s.

thats so cool..i know people that’ll totally be intrested in that 😀 (and no, its not me!!)

and its so nerdy as well XD

No difference between this and some of those ads that have cost me a few bucks, and a few hours of my life, hanging out at local ACT theatre, IMHO

it’s promoting an event, but it’s not going to have permanent page presence.

paid advertisement will allways be clearly marked.

so riotact accepts adds now ?

hope johnboy gets a slab out of this.

Morning mal.
