A well known multinational convenience store chain franchise is offering free small Slurpees on Australia Day to celebrate their recent arrival in Canberra.

On Jan 26 between 10am and 2pm, just wish their staff a ‘Happy Australia Day’ to receive your free Slurpee from their petrol stations in Holt, Braddon, Fyshwick, Wanniassa, and Giralang.

Apparently Australian’s consume some 6.6 million Slurpees each year.

Any reason why you are avoiding naming them?

“well known multinational convenience store chain franchise” was easier to type.

You should’ve gone all the way and said that they were offering free flavoured frozen beverages instead of Slurpees

Ahh… maybe they want the ability to view things in HD, on a larger screen, with lower power consumption, and without having it weigh 60kgs? :p

… they could try resting it on some sort of furniture … makes holding the 60kg up much less taxing. And frees up hands for holding hard-won Slurpees 🙂

6.6 milliion Slurpees/year nationwide? Seems low … that’s every third person having one a year. We’re smashing those numbers at our place.

They also had this promo last Nov 7 (7/11, see?) … the queue was out the door, down the street, around the block. So many people who will queue for lord-knows-how-long for $2 worth of freebie. (Presumably the same people who will buy a 3D LED rather than take a free CRT. Go figure.)

You’re right about queuing for a $2 worth of free stuff, though. It seems pretty stupid. I value my time at more than $4/hour.

Bear in mind that there are lots of cities and towns with no 7/11 franchises. Perth, for one.
