Territory And Municipal Services are warning dog owners to take out extra plastic bags on Friday as Domestic Animal Services and ACT Policing combine to conduct a crackdown:
“The operation will take place in several areas of Canberra where there has been issues reported to us by the community,” Registrar, Domestic Animal Services, Peter Dinan said.
“This includes particular suburbs, parks and nature reserve areas. The crackdown is part of an ongoing partnership between Domestic Animal Services and the police and is the third joint operation to be conducted this year.
The infringements and fines under the microscope are:
- — Keeping an unregistered dog $150
— Dog not on a leash in a public place $150
— Keeping dog not de-sexed without a permit $75
— Registered dog not wearing registration tag in a public place $75
— Not carrying equipment for removal of faeces $5
