A fully vaccinated Canberra man aged in his 20s with no underlying health conditions has died from COVID-19 in Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital.

The tragic news comes as the ACT reported 992 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8 pm on Wednesday, 5 January.

The additional cases of COVID-19 take the ACT’s total active caseload to 3565, and of these, 20 people are in hospital, including two in intensive care and two being ventilated.

A total of 2311 negative test results were recorded in the 24 hours to 9 am on Wednesday, 5 January. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the ACT since 12 March, 2020, is 8021.

The percentage of the eligible population who are now fully vaccinated is 98.5 per cent. ACT residents aged 18 and above who have received their booster shot is at 18.9 per cent.

ACT Health will no longer be classifying people as close or casual contacts. Instead, they will focus on the level of exposure someone may have had with a positive COVID-19 case, separating them into the categories of high, moderate or low.

ACT Health has asked the community to assess their personal risk and circumstances to check whether there is a high risk of having contracted COVID-19 and/or transmitting it to others.

Amazing how fast the cause of death is found.
Parts of an autopsy can take weeks to run properly.

I’m going to assume the tip off was when the doctors saw an otherwise healthy young man rapidly decline while fighting COVID .

“can take weeks”
Gosh, do you think he was obscurely poisoned? Call Miss Marple!

Why does the usual 1-2 hours so amaze you, gooterz? Do your prejudices often suffer these shocks?

Do you really think a comment like yours is called for? What exactly are you trying to prove?

But for what it’s worth, and I am not going to comment on this guys death specifically but you do realise if a patient is under a doctors care and that doctor is satisfied to the cause of death that an autopsy is not actually required?
