In countries across Asia, thousands of bears live a life of torture on bear farms so that their bile can be extracted and used in traditional medicine to cure ailments ranging from headaches to haemorrhoids. Bears are confined, sometimes for up to 20 years, in cages which vary from agonisingly tiny “crush” cages to only slightly larger coffins.
We are the ACT Support group for Animals Asia Foundation – Moon Bear Rescue and are dedicated to assisting AAF to secure the release of the bears from these filthy, vile farms and into the Foundation’s purpose-built sanctuaries in China and Vietnam.
Please help us secure funding for the bears by attending this dinner/dance on 13 August 2011 at 6.30pm, Teatro Vivaldi, ANU.
Tickets are $95 which gets you a four-course vegetarian meal and a glass of wine or champagne on arrival.
Local band George Huitker & Junk Sculpture are providing their musical services free of charge.
So, while the bears are hibernating, dress up; turn up; and let loose! Every cent we make will go directly to AAF.
To book please contact Sue Fallon on 6254 6273 or email her suefallon@bigpond.com.au. For more information on the plight of the Moon Bears, please visit: www.animalsasia.org.
We would really appreciate your support. Thank you.
