'Furner must go now'. Sharks 44, Raiders 22

One thing good came out of the embarrassment at the hands of Cronulla it is now one game closer to “the joke masquerading as a coach David Furner” getting the flick.

It has been claimed he has four games left to get it right, oh how I wish that were true, as I somehow think that his brother the secretary manager of the Raiders Club will not let that happen.

He received yet another lesson in coaching again from a virtual unknown in the Cronulla game. Here is hoping that justice will prevail and he will get the bullet.

Raiders supporters are being short changed, any likelihood of the Raiders returning to being competitive is realistically just a dream. Furner is an embarrassment, he must go now, not in three more games but now.

To the OP and New Yeah who is Furners brother you are rambling on about? His is name Don? If so you will find that he is his father not his brother and he is the CEO of the club, not on the board.

Um actually NO, Don Furner Jnr is the CEO, Don Furner Snr holds no actual position within the Raiders.

Well f*** me dead, wonder why the when ever they have a story it is Snr that gets his mug on TV?

JC – log onto the Raiders website mate and have a look. The CEO is Don Furner Jnr. I hold a voluntary position with the organisaiton working with the U20s. Perhaps a little humble pie when someone helps you out with some info might be worthwhile rather than continuing to get it wrong.

Were there really more than 12000 there? I ask because on tv the ground didn’t look anywhere near half full (or half empty).

On a related note, I was at the game on Sunday. I can’t believe the club still haven’t done something about those disgusting ‘fans’ that sit in the front row of bay 56-57 (near the 10 metre line), on the Mengina stand side.

For several yrs now, I’ve been watching these idiots abusing people & provoking away fans to fight them. Yesterday, one of them threw a drink all over a Cronulla supporter, which escalated into a small scuffle.

Surely others have come across these ‘people’. They are revolting & need to have their season tickets ripped up.

So David Furner is now responsible for Campo’s injury?

I understand there is a bit of truth in that suggestion.

What, so over training people does cause injuries?? Who’da thought?

Chill son. I’m talking about Don Jr. I haven’t seen or heard from Don Sr for some time.

Actually, sacking Furner and bringing in a new coach might just work. Look at how the Brumbies have completely turned their fortunes around since Jake White came on board.

But do agree it is time he was on his way. Far too long in the job with a team of players who have proved they can play, so it leaves one common thing, the coach. New direction is needed.

It’s the Canberra way; when a team goes badly, it can’t be the players, must be the boofhead coaching them…

So David Furner is now responsible for Campo’s injury? Funny, I don’t remember anybody calling for Tim Sheens’s sacking when Ricky Stuart suffered a season-ending injury late in the 1993 season and the Raiders lost their following games and almost missed the finals.

How was he outcoached?
It was a failure of the players on the field to do the simple things right and they were beaten by a Sharks team that is in top form.

The Raiders have no structure and direction without Campese. If you want to have a go at Furner is should be about not realising that Campese is prone to injury and trying to secure an experienced quality half-back or five-eighth. They tried it with Orford last year and he turned out to be a crock.

Seriously, everytime the Sharks got near the Raiders line they either scored points or got a repeat set through a dropout. The Raiders had plenty of chances to do the same but usually threw a loose pass or kicked it dead. I have no idea how the coach could be to blame for skill errors like these.

OP’s points are brutal but with a point. Furner is out of his depth as a head coach. With the Raiders squad containing as many talented individuals as it does, the team should be performing far better.

Were Furner coaching a Sydney team, his head would have been on the chopping block long ago. I remember prior to his appointment, his bro said it would be the board’s call, not his, on whether Dave Furner got the sack. Well I hope the board doesn’t come out with some more BS–“Dave Furner could lose 50 games and he’d still have a job”–and actually look at his record. It’s shabby.

Matt Elliott achieved far better results over a similar period of time with a squad much more inferior in talent to the current one.

To be fair Cronulla are in really good form at the moment, although nobody can ignore the odour emanating from the Raiders.

It’s all my fault.

I watched the game on Fox.

Kiss of death.

Campo is worth at least points.

I’d ask if a riot ensued, with cars set alight in the car park, but I’m under the impression that the average Raiders fan sets fire to the car so ACT Police can’t get finger prints…

Not gonna lie; I don’t take them seriously anymore.
