Greens Senator Christine Milne has announced the passage of legislation to let the ACT Legislative Assembly determine its own size:
The bill, which passed the House of Representatives last month and passed the Senate today, was secured as part of ongoing negotiations with the Greens.
“I’m thrilled that we have secured the right of ACT residents to decide their own future” Australian Greens leader Senator Christine Milne said.
“The Greens support the ACT’s right to decide the size of its assembly and we’re pleased to have put the needs of the ACT on the Government’s agenda.
“The Greens will continue to stand up for the people of the ACT and support their request to have a Legislative Assembly that can meet the demands of the Territory.”
