Fyshwick burn

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will conduct a hazard reduction burn tomorrow, Thursday 2 February, 2012, weather permitting, at Fyshwick.

The ACTRFS Jerrabomberra Brigade will commence stage one of the burn on Dairy Road near the Monaro Highway from 6pm till 10pm, at the ActewAGL Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant.

Three heavy tankers, two light units, a command vehicle and 20 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx three hectares.

The purpose of the burn is to allow ActewAGL to assess the condition of the lagoon embankments at the Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant in order to accurately scope any required maintenance. Pending weather conditions, this burn will be completed on Saturday 4 February, 2012.
