They certainly are qualified. I believe Andy was acting assistant treasurer of the uni darts club and Gai once attended a women’s self-defence class. Shorty is also ready to lead the party, because before he spent the last 5 minutes in parliament, he once lead the way over a disaster in a huge hole.

This is really mean, an unnecessary.

Comments like this from both sides are seriously devaluing our political conversation these days. And yes, I realise this is one of the milder ones.

I’m no fan of Andrew Leigh (for various heritage issue reasons), but he is no less qualified to do something political than anyone else in an ubersafe seat. As Thumper once said, Labor could put up a dead slug and Canberra would all vote it in. We have only ourselves to blame.

Now Gai will have a genuine reason for not doing anything for the people south of the lake; she’s busy with her portfolio duties.

Seriously, Labor could stand my dog in Canberra and it’d get elected.

Does this mean that labor are worried about losing votes in Canberra? Just wondering.

Very unlikely. I think it’s just fortunate circumstances that both the Canberra MPs had reasons for promotion this time around. They needed to make up the numbers for women to show up the Coalition, and being quite inoffensive with a background in PR, Brodtmann’s a decent choice (though the portfolio seems an odd fit). Leigh has acquitted himself quite well in taking on the Coalition on economic issues, he has academic cred and claims to be above factionalism, so when it inevitably comes time to call out the coalition on their broken economic claims in 2016, he’d be someone good to have in a senior position.

I think they’re making some fairly heroic assumptions about Andrew’s capacity to appeal to “middle Australia”.

Gai and Shorten go back a long, long way to Uni politics days I understand.

I’m surprised by this. I’ve met Ms Brodtman briefly at a couple of professional gigs. She seems like a nice person, but she didn’t seem like she had a lot of firepower.

They certainly are qualified. I believe Andy was acting assistant treasurer of the uni darts club and Gai once attended a women’s self-defence class. Well they did lose a couple of Western Sydney pollies and the GWS Giants get more support in Canberra than in GWS.

See lots of things don’t make sense 🙂

And here I was thinking that Canberra pollies had to move to Western Sydney if they wanted a promotion.

Is good ..
