Gallagher, Burke bicker over health hotline

By Thumper - 30 January 2008 32

From what I can gather from this ABC article, Katy Gallagher and Jacqui Burke don’t quite see eye to eye.

Apparently Ms Burke was to set up a health hotline and then report back to Ms Gallagher with complaints she had recieved.

This sounds like a good idea to me.

However, it would appear that Ms Gallagher has since stated that she does not believe that Ms Burke will tell her the truth.

As such, Ms Burke now refuses to pass on the information.

Pedantic uppity little princesses.

What’s Your opinion?

Jacqui has a long and undistinguished history of bull-shitting.

No. Politicians don’t lie. Next you’ll be saying there is no Tooth Fairy or no Santa Claus.

I think I know what you refer to GA. So allow me to quote the first post in the thread that compared local ALP politicians to whores.

“They’ll find another Labor whore to keep the seat warm – It’ll be some back room hack with the personality of a door-bitch and the charisma of tinea. I speak the truth.

Here’s the thread so you can double check for yourself.

So anybody want to explain why Ingee wasn’t attacked other than that a fair bunch of you are mindless sheep. How about some of Pandy’s comments in that thread? Dear me, what rock did he crawl out from under.

Some of you might also wish to consider the fact that at least one person on this site who has experienced mental illness has expressed great distress to me in private about the comments and attitudes of people here to the mentally ill. I’m sure Pandy’s made anyone with a weight problem feel great too.

As I’ve said before, many here really need to check their facts a little better. Exercising a little more consistency in your attitudes and opinions would also be a plus. Don’t even get me started on the number of times I’ve read posts by people on this site advocating violence.

People in glass houses………

Fairs points all, and rest assured no tears shed here. And the comments made in this thread weren’t too bad in the scheme of things seen on RA recently (Chester…).

But I’ve been a local govt rep, and people forget that these are real people, with partners, and kids in local schools who are vulnerable to the treatment that kids dish out to each other, etc.

We might look at it as just a bit of dishing on a website, but there are other Audrey Fagans out there who may not take it so casually. Hell of a thing for you to live with…

As much abuse as we do hurl around at people in the LA, if they’re doing an effective job and don’t have a horde of closetted skeletons (like fincancial discrepancy scandals, or mysteriously getting lifts while possibly DUI from friends who go on to win tenders), the good ones do get appreciated, even moreso if they’re willing to engage for comment and implement legitimate policy instead of just helping out their friends\mothers\significant others.

But there are people in at the moment who wouldn’t be worth >$100k in any job, but only got elected because people disliked the names they recognised on the ballot paper.

Pratt could open a successful fishing business… oh wait a minute…

Crikey 4:44 pm 30 Jan 08

Gungahlin Al before you shed too many tears for our local pollies you should realise that elected representatives who work hard and achieve something are respected in this room.

Sadly, most of the people in our present Assembly – Pratt, Burke, Smyth, Hargreaves, Foskey, MacDonald, Gallagher, Gentleman – couldn’t pick up a job paying $108,000 outside the Assembly.

Gungahlin Al 4:31 pm 30 Jan 08

Many of us here decry the need for quality new candidates for positions in the Assembly.

However, anyone thinking about putting their hand up for the election would only need have a squiz around RA to get a nasty taste of what they (and their families) would be in for…

You’ve got to wonder who might find that worth the $108,000 pa that the job would pay.

Really, it’s one of those reality TV shows about hospitals waiting to happen.

The catch for this one, is that it’ll be a little like RPA (anal probe gear not being cleaned properly), and a little like the office (Katy Vs Jaqui).

It’s great to know that we have two useless people on either side of the Health political fence.

Looks like Jacqui the burke has been caught with her pants down once again. Oh, I feel sick now after that reflection.

Jacqui has a long and undistinguished history of bull-shitting.

But RiotACT should be careful, or it may get a blast from Jacqui’s mommy who has a habit of ringing people who upset Jacqui.

“From what I can gather … Katy Gallagher and Jacqui Burke don’t quite see eye to eye.”

You think? 🙂

Mælinar 11:21 am 30 Jan 08

I figure that when Katy first asked Jaqui to quantify her arguments, and Jaqui backed down on account of she’d told some tall ones, it pretty much put the ball in Katy’s court.

Her comment is taken out of context – she’s referring to the supposed 100 calls that has not been quantified, and will not, will they Jaqui_B (I think that was her username) cause you lied.

The sad thing is this could have worked. There’s no need to lie when talking about Katy’s incompetence.

gun street girl 11:11 am 30 Jan 08

Yeah, I guess she could make some empty announcement about how she intends to “address the issues” brought up by public complaints – I’m sure that’d buy a few votes from people gullible enough to believe her. If she was really serious about fixing the problem, she would have listened to what the industry has been saying for yonks now – there has been no lack of feedback, believe me.

Skidbladnir 11:08 am 30 Jan 08

Because there is an election in 8 months?

gun street girl 11:06 am 30 Jan 08

Katy has steadfastly ignored all the complaints coming from inside the industry for a long time now. Why then, should she now listen to what the laypeople think?
