Gallagher, Burke bicker over health hotline

By Thumper 30 January 2008 32

From what I can gather from this ABC article, Katy Gallagher and Jacqui Burke don’t quite see eye to eye.

Apparently Ms Burke was to set up a health hotline and then report back to Ms Gallagher with complaints she had recieved.

This sounds like a good idea to me.

However, it would appear that Ms Gallagher has since stated that she does not believe that Ms Burke will tell her the truth.

As such, Ms Burke now refuses to pass on the information.

Pedantic uppity little princesses.

He might want to be called Smith to sound more populist, but he still answers the phome Smeyeth and his wife set me straight when I asked what she preferred when I had a legitimate reason to call them at home.

I agree with you there Ingeegoodbee how often do we see it happen.

“Sadly, most of the people in our present Assembly – Pratt, Burke, Smyth, Hargreaves, Foskey, MacDonald, Gallagher, Gentleman – couldn’t pick up a job paying $108,000 outside the Assembly.”

Crikey, sadly, I suspect that they could – in the private sector at least.

a few votes from people gullible enough to believe her that’d describe most of the electorate, then, streetgirl!

ross solly got stuck into both yesterday morning – hilarious stuff. both came across as uppity princesses not willing to give an inch. i thought politicians were elected to represent the views of their constituency. and i thought jackie burke was provided information by punters who believed their comments would get to the minister.

back to their corners, no biscuit.

Oh, in my opion the best quote about politicians come from none other than Billy Connelly:”People who want to become politicians… shouldn’t be allowed to”.

Crikey – I agree with you that these folk can’t cut it in th real world. I’ve known Smythe for years (yes way back when his name was pronounced Sm-eye-th, not Smith as he now like to be called as he thinks it makes him ‘one of the people’). He was only a fairly Junior Public Servant. But that seems to be the pattern of most all of our MLA’s.

Again, this is another example of why Stanhope must piss himself laughing at the people of the ACT.

His Ministers might be as useless as ashtrays on motorbikes, but time and time again the Liberal opposition just doesn’t score any useful points against them!

God help us all!

Yep, heard the dynamic duo on 666 this morning. I normally don’t have much time for Katy, but Jacqui made Katy look good by putting herself across as barking mad at best. Hope the big Z shuffles her downwards soon.

Crikey 3:41 pm 31 Jan 08

Gungahlin Al this is so typical of Jacqui the burke. Mike Welsh, 2CC refuses to have her on his program following a similar stunt she pulled on him. I hope the Liberals drop her – or if not, the ACT voters kick her out.

Screwed up that link: http://www.gcc.asn.au

Back on the topic, did anyone have the pleasure of listening to the Jacqui and katy show on 666 this morning?

I think Ross Solly was getting pretty cheesed orf with Jacqui about her refusal to pass on details of the concerns lodged with her to the government.

Understandable – what is the point of those people raising issues if all that would result is a CT headline?

People raise issues with me via the GCC, and they can count on them being referred to the relevant person/minister/department, with or without the personal details as per the complainant’s wishes. (Copped a blast or two from the good Minister Hargreaves for my trouble, but that goes with the territory. Territory – gedit?) Figure they do actually want something done about it if at all possible after all…

Ingee, that’s gonna go WAAAYYYY over her head.

Ingeegoodbee 11:53 am 31 Jan 08

As a rule, responding to a CC post is a bite like scraping dog crap off your boot – unpleasant, but better than walking it through the house…

Sure CC a couple of lame tossers thew up their hand’s in faux disgust at my comment in the other thread. I stand by it. The Labor party will find another Labor whore to fill the vacancy. If you want to make that phrase, in the context thta it is used, a gender issue of if you want to believe that it degrades women in some way then be my guest – just don’t pontificate about it becuase you just end up looking a bigger tool than you come across as (if that was possible).

chester, Ingeegoodbee *was* (rightly) bagged out for the “whore” comment.

Skidbladnir 10:13 am 31 Jan 08

There are times when it feels like the only fact Chester checks is “Can these pills be taken with alcohol?”

Mælinar 9:56 am 31 Jan 08

Gungahlin Al, CC tends to stand in a glasshouse with a pump action scattergun full of pellets.

Gungahlin Al 10:09 pm 30 Jan 08

Hmmm – exactly how much fact checking did you do Chester before tossing in your comment last week about Jon Stanhope’s penis size and him being the devil??

Felix the Cat 9:14 pm 30 Jan 08

Jacqui has a long and undistinguished history of bull-shitting.

No. Politicians don’t lie. Next you’ll be saying there is no Tooth Fairy or no Santa Claus.

chester 6:25 pm 30 Jan 08

I think I know what you refer to GA. So allow me to quote the first post in the thread that compared local ALP politicians to whores.

“They’ll find another Labor whore to keep the seat warm – It’ll be some back room hack with the personality of a door-bitch and the charisma of tinea. I speak the truth.

Comment by Ingeegoodbee — 23 January, 2008 @ 7:51 pm”

Here’s the thread so you can double check for yourself.

So anybody want to explain why Ingee wasn’t attacked other than that a fair bunch of you are mindless sheep. How about some of Pandy’s comments in that thread? Dear me, what rock did he crawl out from under.

Some of you might also wish to consider the fact that at least one person on this site who has experienced mental illness has expressed great distress to me in private about the comments and attitudes of people here to the mentally ill. I’m sure Pandy’s made anyone with a weight problem feel great too.

As I’ve said before, many here really need to check their facts a little better. Exercising a little more consistency in your attitudes and opinions would also be a plus. Don’t even get me started on the number of times I’ve read posts by people on this site advocating violence.

People in glass houses………

Gungahlin Al 5:41 pm 30 Jan 08

Fairs points all, and rest assured no tears shed here. And the comments made in this thread weren’t too bad in the scheme of things seen on RA recently (Chester…).

But I’ve been a local govt rep, and people forget that these are real people, with partners, and kids in local schools who are vulnerable to the treatment that kids dish out to each other, etc.

We might look at it as just a bit of dishing on a website, but there are other Audrey Fagans out there who may not take it so casually. Hell of a thing for you to live with…
