TAMS have put forth word that many garbage days are changing around Canberra:

The ACT Government wishes to advise residents of Franklin, Garran, Harrison, Isaacs, O’Malley, Phillip and Swinger Hill that their residential waste and recycling collection days will change commencing on Tuesday 29 October 2013.

Bins in Garran, Isaacs, O’Malley, Phillip and Swinger Hill will now be collected on Tuesdays instead of Fridays commencing with both waste and recycling bins on Tuesday 29 October 2013.

Bins in Franklin and Harrison will be collected on Fridays instead of Wednesdays commencing with waste bins on Friday 1 November 2013 and both waste and recycling bins on Friday 8 November 2013.

A new waste and recycling calendar is being distributed to all households in the ACT.

Residents should have it by the start of next week.

Copies can be collected at all ACT Libraries and Government shopfronts. It can also be viewed online at www.tams.act.gov.au

TAMS has done a terrible job in advertising this. If it wasn’t for RA, we would never have known.

TAMS, do a bit of publicity on this.

And yes, some explanation would also be welcome.

How much explanation do you need? You put out your bin and they take your rubbish away.

BTW they have been flyering everywhere (not just the named suburbs) with little posters with a magnet attached that show your bin and recycling days and a note that you should check the day because some suburbs are changing. Did you throw yours out? I stuck mine on the fridge.

Perhaps you should have read where it states that every household will receive a new calender.

Is your suburb even mentioned? If not, why do you care?

I refuse to trash this press release. Not even with a throw-away line.

After all, the work of a garbage man is really picking up.

Without them there would be garbage all over the streets. Litter Alley.

But then again, I haven’t wheelie bin following the issue.

Water you doing, spraying around puns like that? You’ve been draining for ages for this haven’t you?

Oh … wait … I tapped into the wrong Govt utility. Water waste of a post …

what a rubbish statement from TAMS that has no substance. they must have recycled something from the AFP.

why the change?

What “substance” in a media release do you want – or need? Do you want the ACT Govt to run a referundum and receive your explicit written approval in triplicate before ANY change in Canberra takes place? It’s just a change of bin day FFS!!!

I suspect you missed the latent humour…

New contract and company starts next week, they obviously want the change for scheduling and asset utilisation reasons. Same thing happened when Cleanaway (the current company) took over a few years back, though if I recall the changes affected everyone, not just a few suburbs.

Strangely, garbage day seems to change every time I move house.
