The Canberra Times informs us that Senator Humphries, lacking a compelling vision of the future to sell us, is trying to whip up some red menace over support by the CFMEU for Castro’s Cuba and the Communist Party of Australia.

Former CFMEU member, Senator Kate Lundy, says this reflects Liberal obsession with the 1950’s.

While communist apologists remain worthy targets for derision it’s a shame Senator Humprhies hasn’t got anything better and more worthy of his office to give us.

(The CT article is hung on a very very skimpy media release from Gazza)

And don’t the Yanks find Cuban law a convenient loophole, so they can exploit injustice for their own political ends. Overwhelming stench of hypicrisy there from the alleged land of the “free (disclaimer: if you believe what WE believe)”.

Caf: While it doesn’t explicitly exclude it, I beleive it’s kind of covered under the implied right of free political speech, as determined by the high court to be required to run the democracy our constitution describes. Now there’s a run-on sentence if I ever read one…

“The union evidently has no problem with a constitution that allows the jailing of people simply for criticising the Government,” Senator Humphries said.

Umm.. doesn’t our constitution also allow this? I don’t think it specifically excludes it.

That link didn’t work: it should read ibnnews.org/9.html.

The CFMEU response is here.

Super Gazza: one spray kills commies dead!

Geeze – must have been a REALLY quiet day in the office, or some truly spectacular weed that brought this on. I thought red-baiting was a thing of the past.

I read on SMH last week that castro is terminal with cancer. finally the end of a long and interesting reign.

I think gary must be as equally naieve as anyone that still thinks communism can work.
