Gary Humphries stays on the front bench

It’s hard to say if the Liberal Party don’t believe in information transparency, or if they just aren’t very competent.

Either way they’ve failed to publish details of the shadow ministry for the coming parliament.

But ACT Senator Gary Humphries has emailed out a media release on his new role:

Serving as the Opposition’s Housing and Multicultural Affairs spokesman over the last 10 months has been very fulfilling and rewarding.

I am looking forward to serving as the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary to the Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Materiel on Tony Abbott’s front bench.

As a former Attorney General for the ACT, I have a great deal of experience at a local level on crime prevention and in working to enhance neighbourhood safety.

Similarly I feel honoured to serve within the Defence portfolio to support Australia’s servicemen and women at a time when our troops are on active deployment overseas in a number of theatres.

These roles will supplement my number one role as the chief defender of the ACT community.

“Chief Defender” eh? I don’t recall seeing that on the ballot.

Let me get this straight, Humphries is now our self-appointed ‘Chief Defender’ and will spend much of time lurking around various ‘Shadows’… Great, he’s become a Ninja!

Seriously though, Shadow Parl. Sec. to various Shadow Minister’s?! He must be very proud to be at such dizzying heights.

He’s a shadow of his former self

And meanwhile our new house of reps members are moving forward doing…

um, they must be doing something hey?

Suring up their party preselection from a factional attack!

Great. Gazza mate, you do undestand that those are Territory Government responsibilities don’t you? Remember, you are not an MLA now, nor have you been for a long time; you are a Federal parliamentarian now, F E D E R A L P A R L I A M E N T A R I A N. Am I getting through to you?

Someone from Canberra having responsibility for Housing is a joke, right?

Where was our “chief defender” when his boss wanted to cut 12,000 Australian Public Service positions?

Yep. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

+1

Agree with JB. If it’s important enough to share with some journalists, it’s important enough to share unadulterated with the public.

Not saying they didn’t distribute it, saying they didn’t publish it.

I’m just saying I don’t think it’s a big deal. It will be posted.

“Either way they’ve failed to publish details of the shadow ministry for the coming parliament” – come on JB, they’re only announcing it publicly right now. Humphries obviously new beforehand, so he’s sending out the release at roughly the same time as the announcement. No big deal.

Previous oppositions over the last decade have managed the trick.
