Sink your teeth in while they are fresh!

Monday means bad parking photos here on Planet RiotACT.

Then send those photos in to images@the-riotact.com!

Be sure to include the word ‘parking’ in the subject and what name you would like to be credited as!

1. Terry sets us up this week with this discovery:

DC DC2: The Sequel.

2. Chris, Queanbeyan counts double:

Does Queanbeyan count? Outside Supacheap Auto.

Clearly someone in a hurry to get the Aldi specials of the week…

10. Claw ponders the big and small questions:

Saw this on a Friday night in the North Quarter end of the Canberra Centre carpark. If that’s their definition of a small car, wonder what qualifies as a large one?!

Sorry, but #8 is a genius park. I’ve measured it on ACTMAPi and it is further than 10 metres away from the intersection. I have never seen a ticket on that car so I’m pretty sure the inspectors know it too.

Hats off to the driver.

#6 Someone is a little self-centred,another 6 inches to the left and that would’ve been perfect arsehole parking.

Does the greenish gold in #2 count?

Spotto is a cruel and relentless sport, demanding both a keen eye and an unrealistically pure notion of yellow. I truly fear that your excellent eyesight avails you not at all in the daisy bright, yet blood-stained, arena of Spotto.

There is a nice, undeniably yellow, Fiat in an advertisement on this site at the moment. I shall content myself with that until next week.

Wait – I play old-school. It has to be a car. or a truck. At least a vehicle. Not the colour of a bird flying by or a leaf on a tree or something Laa-Laa is thinking about. Do ACT kids play different rules?

#8. I’ve got to say, i think that they’ve found a nice little free and legal parking spot. They ‘appear’ to be 10 metres from the intersection (measures from the broken line in the 3rd picture) and the curb does not appear to be painted red. They are partially obstructing the footpath though, but is in considered to be ‘unreasonable” considering the width of the footpath.

I don’t think you know how far 10 metres is…

10 metres = 32 feet 9 and a half inches

or in this case roughly 2 Subaru Forester’s with nudge bar (4.75 metres each)

The 10 metre distance has to be measured in a straight line from the continuation of the cross street (indicated by the broken white line). Now I did say it ‘appears’ to be but even if it’s not, it’s going be close.

#10 I have regularly parked cars of varying sizes in the small car spots at the canberra centre with no issues. I am not sure how they classify ‘smal car’ parking spots, but they are not much smaller than the usual spots.

Yup, there is no “no stopping”, “no parking”, time limit sign or any other regulation they appear to be contravening… I once found a “loop hole” parking spot like that at ANU. They put up a new sign just for me. 🙁

#7a – technically not parked since he is still with the car. But what’s with people that leave their doors open in the traffic?! Does he want it taken off by a passing bus???

#10 – shouldn’t really matter as long as the vehicle is within the lines (which it appears to be) – isn’t the writing just a warning that it’s not a standard sized parking space? And shouldn’t it be painted in all the spaces in the KFC/Salvos carpark at Phillip.
