Good news sisters, the Girl Geek Dinners were such a success with round one in Canberra that they’re having another go.

They’ve booked out Indian Affair in Phillip (a top choice) and are banqueting at $32 a head.

Boy geeks are, one imagines, free to run a LAN party while the ladies are away.

(Oh, and if you want to go, definitely RSVP)

is anyone else looking to come along? there are still a few places left. find a girl geek to bring you along, enjoy really good indian food, win win.

a point to make about these dinners, they are fairly casual, so it is what you want to make of it, not a strict regimen of food / speech / dessert / leave.

great for networking with others in the IT industry, and you will enjoy yourselves if you come.

for the geek guys who want to go to these events, but have no sponsor, make mention on the rsvp site of your interest, there may well be a geek girl who can sponsor you.

Save the personal chatter for facebook guys, it’s just noise to everyone else.

It was a joke, peterh. I was trying to let you know I will be attending and you’re right for a sponsor.

Well, I thought I was pretty funny!

Broadband killed the LAN party star.

As former member of a group organising large (500+ people) LANs, I can pretty much confirm this.

Affordable ADSL1 = Not leading your target by a second.

I thought it just meant that you could kill over greater distances, having clustered lans against others around the world. made it a lot easier for me to blow up someone i never met without actually killing – less messy….

It is worth mentioning that a girl geek can bring a partner, or sponsor a boy geek to attend. The first one was a lot of fun, and I am hoping that I am sponsored again to attend this one as well.

(not that i am a boy geek in any way, I prefer to call myself a luddite, and leave it at that)
