Glenloch Interchange will be shut completely this weekend so they can install traffic lights to try and control the madness come Monday.

On Monday detours will be in place and Tony Gill, head of Roads ACT, has assured everyone there will be lots of signage. He also so he only expected delays of about 15 mins at this stage, but I had been hearing 20-30 minutes minimum.

I believe the Interchange will also be shut next weekend (16-17 Dec) but I’m sure you’ll hear more during the week.

why don’t you all stop whingeing. if you all knew how to drive, it wouldn’t be a problem. canberrans get stuck in traffic for 5 minutes and they think they’re being tortured. GET OVER IT!

Drove on the ‘new’ belco to City lane this afternoon. Must say I cannot belive how they have constructed this road, not hot mix, just a stabalised base with sprayed tar and gravel sealed. As I suspected they only have diverted Belconnen and tuggernanong to city traffic and they had already started ripping up part of the old belco to city lane to build the second set of temp lights for the diversion of belco to tuggeranong and city to belco traffic, next weekend I assume. Will be interesting to see how they do the belconnen bound lanes and the traffic lights at the old William Hovell/Caswell drive intersection.

Tommorow morning will be intersting I fully expect there to be accidents where the new belconnen to city lanes split from the tuggeranong traffic, I bet many people will be in the right hand lane wanting to go to city and many in the left wanting to go to tuggeranong. Shouldn’t be too bad next week once the diversions are fully in place.

He has a small penis complex?

so not needing to go into that much detail SNS.

I have sex too – i dont have to brag – why do you ?

I got the fright of my life in the wee small hours Saturday morning. Traffic lights on Lady Denman Drive! At first I thought I was hallucinating and someone had spiked the mineral water I had been on all night. We hit a red light, so it took an extra minute to get to the little gravel carpark, into the back seat and inside fuckbuddy.

I hope they hold an enquiry for this kerfuffle. I really want to testify just how inconvenient that was.

What shit me about travelling along Coppins Crossing were the idiots who were going north. At least 5 of the 6 cars in front of me slammed their breaks on when a south bound car passed them. FFS.

I have to get to Civic tomorrow morning. I’ll go up the Monaro and past Campbell High.

Plus, the signage was shite.

signage? there was none today until you got to where they closed the road off. i wasn’t the only one caught out, cops were too. i saw a police van and a motorcycle try every route to get to tuggeranong from belconnen, and they had to pull u-turns on everyone (i was following them in hope that they knew which roads were open). putting up signs that say “Tuggeranong Alternative Route” really isn’t good enough if you have to travel another few kilometres past the turn off to realise you really needed to take it.

I drove down Coppins Crossing Rd today, Hugo, and I couldn’t agree more – but will add that I expect there to be accidents o’plenty on Coppins Crossing Road itself due to the standard Canberra practice of impatience, tailgating and dangerous overtaking manoevres on what’s a fairly agricultural twisting single-lane road to begin with.

What will be needed is temporary lights at the junction of the Coppins Crossing road and the Cotter Road. There will be a vast increase in this route ander the coppins road meets the Cooter road just under a hill with poor visuals – just ready for the accidents which will hold up the flow massively

I just attempted to get from parkway into civic, it was a frikken nightmare, got diverted back to belconnen and had to go the long way around bindubi and down belconnen way.

Not to mention the idiot drivers who got flustered by being out of their routine.

It is meant to be shut for two weekends. My guess is this weekend they will do the work required to divert the William Hovell and Caswell to city traffic and the tuggeranong to city traffic, but keep the current city to belco, and belco to tuggeranong road for another week. They need the current city to belco road to be empty to put in place the diversion for city to belco and belco to tuggeranong trafic which by the looks of it will require them to move quite a large amount of road and dirt from the current Belco to City lanes. I cannot see them doing that in 2 days, so one week makes sense, then close it again to put in the rest of the traffic messures and diversions.

Yeah, closed this weekend and next.

it will be interesting t see how badly this will affect the other roads in Canberra. Adelaide Ave and the Monaro Hwy get very busy normally around 8 – 9 am.

With a significant number of people avoiding the parkway, this could tip them both over the edge….for a LONG time. This wont be finished for a while (18 months, right?).
