So this morning, I noticed one of those big ass signs, stating major changes to Glenloch as of the 7th.

I can’t find any info on the TAMS site.

Anyone have any info on this ?

I’ll be interested to see if the GDE traffic heading south through Glenloch runs smoother tomorrow. Other than the merge onto Parkes Way, there should not be any reason for cars to be backed up to Aranda…

I was in at the National Gallery this morning and was surprised to find the roundabout up and running. You still can’t get to the underground carpark at the gallery though without doing the circuit down past the Library and along the lake front.

Speaking of major traffic changes (although it’s not Glenloch), that roundabout they’ve been building near the High Court appears to be finished, I went round it yesterday. So presumably they’ll open that bit of Bowen Drive back up so you can get straight onto King ed. terrace. There’s still some barriers up making it hard to go around and onto Kings Ave Bridge though. at the moment, you have to go through the roundabout (which seems very odd).

I think it would be better. The traffic usually builds up due to the 2 set of lights it need to get through before joining the Parkway. Although I think the lights on the old Caswell Dr are still operating for the next couple of weeks, so you may want to wait until then.

I went into Canberra from Holt through the interchange yesterday and see that the Tuggeranong traffic don’t have the traffic lights to turn right anymore. How much do you think this is going to speed up the traffic in the morning? I work at Woden and use the Coppins Crossing road in the morning. I am never game to try going through Glenloch because of the horrendous traffic delays. The reverse direction through the interchange is fine in the afternoon as we have not had a traffic light to slow us down.

Here is a link to the Gelnloch plan: http://www.tams.act.gov.au/__data/assets/image/0013/12325/gde-map-glenlochinterchange.jpg

It also kind of answers the question above about lane squeezing too. There are in fact two right hand lane exit’s. Vis Belco to Woden and Woden to the city. The rest are left lane exits.

What many don’t realise is Parkes way is going to be re-alligned so that both lanes of traffic flow towards Belconnen, so the turn onto the Parkway will be the exit (on the left)

Didn’t know that that JC. That is definately a better way of doing it.

I drove through there at 6am this morning, but nothing had changed yet. Did anyone else see the difference yet, or are they changing it halfway through the day?

To get from Tuggers to Civic they go under the road from Gungahlin and then over the road to Belco. Oh someone said something about the tunnel to Belco, the Q is what tunnel? It is a bridge they go under.

I too think the whole thing is a crock, I really don’t like how the decided to scimp on an extra bridge for Tuggeranong to Gungahlin traffic. What would the extra cost have been. Even more interesting as the GDE is two lanes from Glenloch to Belconnen way, except for the bit over the road from Belconnen to Civic. I am stil aghast that the road surface is so shit. Why didn’t they bit the bullet and make it hotmix and not that sprayed on tar with gravel surface shit. Look after 1 year how much the Belco to Civic section has started to break up. Silly silly.

One last thing someone spoke about right hand exit’s, as far as I can see there is only 1, which is from Belco to Tugger’s. What many don’t realise is Parkes way is going to be re-alligned so that both lanes of traffic flow towards Belconnen, so the turn onto the Parkway will be the exit (on the left). The only other one is Tuggeranong to Civic, but by the looks of that it will be a lane split and not an exit.

I would take an educated guess that the bridge from caswell to the parkway will open.. the parkway side has looked like it has been finished for months, lights and barriers have been up for ages. though the damn fools put a merge from belconnen to tuggeranong on the parkway again, which was half the bloody problem to begin with when the fools coming from belco forced their way into the left lane to go down lady dedman dr. but then the whole design is a complete fuckup

their even

GCC thinks there shit does not stink.

That is why they are upset that they have not been notified.

The title of it is “Glenloch 01Mar08”.

The Tugg – > Civic part of it runs underneath one of the flyovers, around the (–x, +y) areas of that picture.

The picture is not fresh from the camera, but not much will have changed in five days.

looking at that photo, how do people coming along from tuggers get to go to civicv or is that a older photo?

I not surprised the leadership of the People’s Republic of Stanhopia have failed to notify the GCC – since it’s just a collective of Tories and developers.

There’s been no advice of changes to GCC. Bit different from the planning that led up to the “opening” of the single land spray-sealed rural road that was the first stage…

Wonder what the residents of Kaleen think of the road noise coming off that spraypave?

Still not sure how two lanes of traffic each from City, GDE and Belconnen (so six lanes of traffic in all) are NOT going to get bottlenecked when it all squishes into two lanes on the southern side of Glenloch Interchange…
Well, I guess that goes for whatever direction you’re heading in…
Looks cool but.

It’s still flawed. Most interchanges have cars exiting from the left lane. Glenloch has cars exiting from the right “fast” lane in most cases. They’ve just made it so there aren’t any traffic lights so the traffic should run smoother.

Given that the original Glenloch design was flawed because it was done by someone who thought we drove on the right, and it only got corrected after construction had begun, perhaps you’re right?

I believe traffic coming from Gungahlin to Tuggers will be able to go across the new bridge and people coming from Belconnen to Tuggers will be able to use the new ramp onto the the bridge. Therefore, hopefully no more going through the traffic lights at Parkes Way.

It does look like a pretty funky interchange down there at Glenloch.

My guess is they’ve spent months working out how to make it even more of a mess, and the changes come into force tomorrow.

The February work program had something about it being through to the parkway before Easter.
