Canberra’s most majestic ambassador, the Skywhale, is heading down to Hobart for the weekend to appear in the Dark Mofo festival.

The Dark Mofo festival apparently celebrates “the dark through large-scale public art, food, music, light and noise” and I am wondering why I’ve never heard of it before because it sounds brilliant.

Centenary of Canberra Creative Director Robyn Archer says she is looking forward to Tasmanians getting the chance to see The Skywhale in person.

“I’m delighted that The Skywhale will be seen for the first time outside Canberra in Hobart, and in connection with the new Dark Mofo festival,” Robyn said.

“While this splendid new flying sculpture is something that everyone can enjoy, I know the artist is proud to have this association with the art and energy that events at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) embrace.”

The last time Patricia Piccinini’s work was last displayed in Tasmania it broke all attendance records.

Patricia says she is very proud to showcase her latest work in Hobart.

Cheers to Rioter Deref for the great picture again.

Any messaging down south re the Canberra Centenary from our $300,000 investment? Mind you, I’d be happy if it was a breast screening message instead ….

“Dark Mofo” is an exceptional name for a festival.

Well that will put the local fur seals in their place, won’t it!

So much emerged
Kindness hovered
You looked up

What you saw was you
Happy or bitter
Angry or ecstatic
Lovely vision
Embraced or spurned

Did Skywhale actually win the Mully, or was it just too obvious?
