Good party venues for hire in Canberra?

Hi guys! I’m new to this site, but I now have a bit of a situation, I need a place to hold my 16th birthday party.

Just a room that I can hire out or something like that? Or something like a hall? I’ve emailed a place in Gold Creek, but they only have prices per person, which is kind of annoying, because I don’t know how many people I want to invite, and I need a quote to give to my parents, as I need to pay somehow..

If anyone has any ideas/comments that would be awesome! Thankyou!

you have to ?have a rough idea on how many people are gonna ?attend because ?these days almost everywhere price is per person.
not sure relevent or not but a friend of mine had his son’s party and i regret not going there because they had all the teenagers pitched in those inflated sumo suits ?- Looked liked heaps of fun ! The mob was – ?www.canberrasumosuits.com.au?

My 2 cents.

Why haven’t your friends offered to do it at one of their houses? You could bring everything over and set up together. Or you could do it after you move? If the weather is nice you could even set up in a park. The town is full of them. The hall idea is nice too though. 🙂

You can always hire a spit, tables, chairs, marquee, party lights, sound system @ http://www.canberraspitsandpartyhire.com and have a rockin time at home!

haha hey guys, well it’s not going to be a crazy party, obviously i’m not a stereotypical 16 year old that you think. i can’t have it at my house because i’m moving.. so hiring a place is the only option.. there will be parents there too, and honestly crazy parties are over the top and stupid! but thankyou to all that have helped 🙂 and no, i haven’t had a party yet and i don’t know anything about the party –

“Is that the one where a Sweet 16 ended in a small riot and a number of police being assaulted last year?

I advice you to send your invites by social media in order to ensure a high turnout.”

also, i’m smarter than that not to invite people over the net.

thankyou!

.

Yeah, that’s the one.

I’d suggest NOT a scout hall, as you are what, 16..would they really trust a kid with a scout hall after previous incidents?

Seriously, just have a party in your backyard, or a park or something! It gets better when you turn 18!

i’ve been thinking about the scout hall across form burgmann, should be a good start 🙂 thankyou for everyone’s help! 🙂

your 16 ! Invite a few friends over and party in your own backyard.

Found this page on the interweb: http://www.aussieweb.com.au/directory/halls+hire/act/canberra+city Has a list of many community halls available for hire. Don’t know if any would be suitable, but if you’re looking for a hall, that’s somewhere to start.

If you are looking in the Gungahlin area, there is additional information about the Palmerston hall http://www.gcc.asn.au/Palmerston-Community-Centre/PCC-Facilities You would pay $300 for up to 9 hours plus a bond of $600. I presume this would be similar to what other halls would charge.

That scouts hall on the lake in Yarralumla is nice. Not sure which type of scouts they are, a google will probably tell you more. We had a work lunch there once and it has a nice courtyard and lake views out the front.

I have been to a big birthday party in a hall on the corner of Gungahlin Drive & The Valley Avenue (across from Burgmann Anglican School). It had a kitchen, tables & chairs in it with heaps of outside room as well. I know that there is a number to get in contact with them written on the building but other than that I don’t know any more info. If you are interested drive past and get the number. I remember it was cheap.

because I don’t know how many people I want to invite

Working out how many you want to invite might be a good first step.

Suggest you get in contact with the local Scouts about hiring their hall.
