Goodbye Jim

Jim Waterson is leaving ACT education.

After acting like Oprah and delivering Ipads to principals Jim is leaving us.

Although Ipads are unsupported IT devices that teachers and students cannot get departmental support for, Jim feels good that he was cutting edge in his tenure.

While his clear out of senior executives who seemed to not toe the line, has provided fresh faces.

I now wonder what the next DG will do in order to stamp the A.C.T. with a new short term vision for their future job security and direction.

Wondering what rioters think will be the new spin for education after Jim?

yes Gerry, he’s gone, almost faster than he arrived. My other half is within the Education Directorate and she was the one who told me big Jim was leaving and that perhaps it wasn’t such a great loss to education in the ACT.

I hope the writer of the OP is not active in education. That is a very poorly-written piece. Seriously.

Dishing out iPads to executives seems quite common, especially in the private sector. Unfortunately they don’t interface well with a lot of common software (like Adobe) which creates all kinds of problems.

Well, kids can learn to spell on Twitter. And why encourage high-level conceptual and analytical skills, or encourage the discipline to stick with and complete a task, when you can give away a game console and encourage teenagers to stream their undeveloped thoughts unto the world. Excellent training for the Public Service.
