ACT Policing has arrested a 20-year-old Gordon man following several driving offences Sunday night (September 8).
About 9.30pm, police received a report of a disturbance and a vehicle performing burnouts in Derrington Crescent, Bonython.
Around 10.15pm Tuggeranong Patrol saw a car matching the vehicle’s description and attempted to perform a traffic stop; however the vehicle failed to stop and fled from police.
Police activated emergency lights and sirens and followed the car but lost sight of it along Sternberg Crescent. Police deactivated their lights and sirens but continued along the road.
As they continued along the street they saw the vehicle had left the road and came to rest on the grass nature strip south of Sternberg Crescent near Erindale Drive.
The occupants got out of the car and started running towards the rear yard of the nearest house.
Police pursued the offenders on foot and arrested the driver.
The driver was transported to Tuggeranong Police Station where he was required to undergo breath analysis. He returned a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.174.
The vehicle has been seized by police. The man will be summonsed to face court on a date yet be fixed.
