ACTEW are calling for participants for a series of “community workshops” on what to do with the development of the Cotter precinct.

If you’re a keen picnicker you might want to get involved.

UPDATE: Mr. Stanhope has now put out a media release on this.

Why would anyone in their right mind, under a Stanhoipe government, even bother to put their views in? Never once since they obtained majority governmnet, and rarely before that, did they take a blind bit of notice about what anyone said in their interminable “consultation” processes.

They go through this charade simply to be able to say that they “consulted”. They then did whatever they want anyway.

I once used to regularly provide responses, but particularly after majority governmnet, gave it away.

They are now in the habit of autocratic rule, and will now not change. Will the other mob be any different? At least Calamity Kate made no pretence. It’s the raising of expectations that is the real killer with Stanhope “consultation”.

Yes, it would be absolutely terrific to see the resurrection of the Cotter Pub.

But heck, I’d love it if there was at least somewhere permanent where we could get a meal, a snack, a hot and/or cold drink. I have no problem taking all the food we need with us when I do go there with my family but sometimes I would just love to not have to do all that so we could just turn up and have a lovely meal in such lovely surroundings.

After the 2003 fires the Govment did a study in to the Cotter Reserve that include, hotels, housing, flying foxes, rock climbing.

so what ever happened to this report?

P1, I totally agree with having more pedestrian and even bike access to the area.

But the Cotter area took a savage beating from that fire and I think it’s still got a long way to go before its restored to its former heyday.

I’ll be attending a workshop and championing the ‘Bring back Cotter Pub’ cause. That place was awesome for a beer and game of pokey stick after an autumn ride in the sticks.

it would be nice if after the enlargement of the dam there was again pedestrian access to the top. It is kinda annoying having to climb over fences to get up there for a look…

Seriously though, I think the area is pretty good already, and the additional tourist draw of a viewing platform would be tops.
