I like sandwiches from a deli, I like roast beef, and this review series has been a bit asiatic to date.

So today I popped into the Canberra Centre where the deli Gourmet City does a line of sandwiches and plonked down $7.50 for a “Governor General”.

They had one on a wholemeal sourdough ready to go or I could have waited while they made one on a different bread. My sourdough was a little dry, so if you’ve got the time getting one made fresh might be a better option.

Quality thin sliced roast beef with mustard and salad, however, is always its own reward.

If you’re in the mood for a sandwich of substance it’s worth checking out.

I was only thinking yesterday that I would request that you move away from the asian lunch boxes (not that they aren’t great) and give us a review of a couple of the sandwiches, wraps and salads available in the centre.

Maybe next week, you could try one of the salad boxes from that place in front of Supabarn? Not one of the leafy salads, one of the heavy chickpea, lentil or potato based ones.

Fancy fillings chicken schnitzel sandwich is incredible and sneaks in under $10, might be worth checking out…
