Government advice on your dog

Territory and Municipal Services have taken it on themselves to warn us about the care of dogs through the summer.

They’re particularly down on leaving dogs in cars, and letting them off leads.

There is, however, some good advice about swimming areas:

“If the mercury is on the rise and you feel like taking your dog for a swim, some possibilities are Point Hut Crossing (western riverbank only) and Uriarra Crossing (east and west), which are designated areas suitable for dogs to go swimming,” Mr Dinan said.

Isn’t a sad indictment that due to the irresponsible behaviour of a minority the guvmint feels the need to advise people on how to care for their dogs? Appalling!

Dogs get treated better than babies in some jurisdictions by the look of it.
Every summer there are news reports of the Police etc smashing the windows of cars where babies have been left within “just for a few minutes”.
But since I have neither babies nor dogs, what do I care… 🙂

That media release was just an excuse to lecture us on leash laws under the guise of caring about dog welfare. They would be much happier if no one ever took their dog anywhere at all. If they really cared about dogs and their safety and that of the people they encounter they might do more to ensure dog owners trained and desexed their dogs.

Kind of on topic, but I’d like to suggest that if you have a fear of dogs, you DO NOT come down to Uriarra Crossing and then stand there shrieking “GET AWAY GET AWAY” when the dogs bound in and out of the water and around you. You have many, many, choices of places to go. We do not.

Yes, this actually happened.

One would’ve thought that anyone called Pork Hunt has the odd pig dog or two?

Au contraire, bundah. I am absolutely one hundred percent (100%) against that sort of thing.
In the days of cavemen one could perhaps appreciate the help of a hunting dog to secure ones daily meal/s.
Using dogs, four wheels drives and high powered firearms these days seems Neanderthal in comparison.

Touche PH, it is undeniable that using pig dogs for hunting feral pigs results in considerable pain and distress to the pig prior to death and therefore should be outlawed however there is also no doubt that feral pigs are a huge problem with approx 23 million in Oz and they need to be culled albeit humanely.

We do need to be mindful that the most cruel animal on this planet is homosapien who is a contradiction, actually an oxymoron(more moron than oxy) one could say 🙂
