The ACT Labor government needs to commit to catching the notorious Narrabundah tyre slasher as the Canberra community raises its voice about the ongoing vandalism to residents’ property being inflicted, Member for Molonglo Giulia Jones said today.

“Today in the Legislative Assembly I will table a petition signed by more than 270 Canberrans calling on Simon Corbell and the government to commit more resources to catching the Narrabundah tyre slasher who has been causing havoc in the inner south for over a decade,” Mrs Jones said.

“I have spoken to many residents, some who have had their cars and property vandalised more than ten times by this criminal. It simply isn’t good enough that this offender continues to attack the personal property of residents of Narrabundah and Griffith.

“Simon Corbell has had many opportunities to make the capture of this offender a high priority but so far he isn’t achieving it. It’s an indictment on the government that a petition has to be circulated to bring this issue again to Mr Corbell’s attention,” Mrs Jones concluded.

No point calling the cops on this person, they’ll just get a slap and let go.

Better to turn the Narrabundah slasher into the Narrabundah slashee…

I suspect they’d have to move out of the neighbourhood if convicted.

I find it deflating that the slasher is having such a goodyear.

The residents should put a reward out for this guy. You know, deliver him dead or alive and collect.

Its no wonder I despair at the standard of the politicians that represent us.

First Julia Jones goes to Scandinavia to look at prostitution laws – where they are trying to outlaw the industry by charging clients with soliciting & now we have a stunt with tyre slashing.

I am starting to get nostalgic for Dennis Stevenson

We can’t pay for a camouflaged Policeman to stake out the whole suburb for a year or more until someone is caught.

Maybe the residents can fill their tyres with nitrous oxide. Then arrest the guy in the street who is uncontrollably laughing. If they catch the person they will blamed for 20 years worth of tyre slashing, get a slap on the wrist and be sent to a Simon Corbell’s how to be a better citizen and fit in with society school.

This guy must be a criminal mastermind if he has managed to hit the same victims multiple times over the course of a decade.

How hard is it to set up a sensor activated flood light and a surveillance camera?
