Chief Minister Gallagher has the very welcome news that people wanting to rent the Albert Hall and Yarralumla Woolshed will now need just $150 to take out the ever vexatious public liability insurance.
This will be done on a 12-month trial basis – beginning 1 July 2012 – to determine its use and effectiveness.
“It is expected that casual hirers, such as families and individuals, will now be able to obtain insurance coverage for approximately $150 (ex GST) per event which will be in addition to the hiring fee,” the Chief Minister said.
“This will make it easier for members of the community, especially young people, to hire these two venues, which have such strong ties to Canberra. The previous requirement for people hiring the venues to belong to organisations which had public liability insurance often restricted the number of casual hirers.
Good work, good move, and I look forward to the events this will spawn.
