Following on from yesterday’s launch of the infrastructure plan and the Liberals’ lack of enthusiasm the Greens’ Caroline le Couteur has also expressed her disappointment:
“The plan is largely a re-announcement of a succession of ACT government capital works – it’s the budget with pictures,” said Ms Le Couteur.
“The plan acknowledges the need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. However it does not act on either of these.
“The transport portion of the ACT Government’s 2011 Infrastructure Plan is about roads, roads and more roads, while important sustainable transport developments are only considered.”
Caroline at some length tallies up the road spending and the public transport spending and finds roads out to 2021 are getting $211,250,000 while public transport will get $17,249,000.
(Although one assumes the buses will run on the roads)
