Late yesterday the Greens put out a media alert letting people know about a special event to be held, er, last night.

Women’s Electoral Lobby (WEL) 2006 Wall of Shame
Date/Time: Tuesday, 2nd of May, 7:00pm

Location: Tilley’s Café, Wattle St, Lyneham.

You and our friends are invited to the 2006 Wall of Shame at which WEL members and friends vote on and present an ‘award’ for the most appallingly poor comment about women in the past year. Order your own food and drinks. Kitchen will be open until 10pm. Donation requested for WEL campaign funds. RSVP to repact@wel.org.au.

I’d be fascinated to learn the most egregious villain against “right thinking” women (was it me?). This is is ACT after all, not NSW. Can anyone enlighten us?

And there wwas a time when WEL was an exciting, relevant organisation…

Since it was a WEL event and not a Greens event, I’m sure Deb was in the running. How well did she score Roland ?

The quote was him saying women were “dumb to get pregnant willy-nilly”.

I thought they would have given it to the Magistrates who didn’t let the chick breastfeed in open Court. Or one of the ‘mysoginist’ men running Club Pink who wouldn’t let them breastfeed in the kitchen there either.

Oh what? A national award?? Relevance deprivation anyone?

Apparently the quote was from Federal Liberal MP Alan Cadman. No idea what the specific quote was, though.

It was a WEL event, not a Greens event. See Canberra times today for details.

The Greens do have an awful habit of putting up their media alerts at the time of the event they are alerting about. Wonder how they expect to get non-mainstream media to cover said events?

Didn’t they call these awards “The Greg’s” after Greg Cornwell, former MLA and sometime Speaker of the LA? Some of the contributions of Greg and many others were absolutely priceless, and hopefully will not be lost.

WEL – who let the(se) dogs out?

Yep, Deb Foskey would be tops for ACT Silly Cow of the Year 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

What are they doing out of the kitchen?

I’ll second that motion

(assuming you’re not saying she’s a bloke and nominating for the tilley award)
