The Canberra Times explains the disappointment of the Greens’ energy spokesman Shane Rattenbury that agreed increases in the ACT Government’s use of renewable energy have not been met.

Green power accounted for 32.5per cent of the Government’s energy purchases last financial year but the Greens want to see that total boosted to 42.5per cent in 2011-2012.

”After signing up to their purchase of renewable energy by 10 per cent until they reach 100 per cent in the ALP-Greens parliamentary agreement, the Government is already well behind that schedule,” Mr Rattenbury said.

He said that this year’s increase of 2.5 per cent was not enough for his party.

”At that rate, it will be another 27 years before the ACT Government could say they are on 100 per cent green power,” he said.
