Greens call for ACTION cleanout

By johnboy - 31 August 2010 4

The Greens’ Meredith Hunter appears to have lost patience with the management of public transport in the ACT as delivered by ACTION.

“I want to see a tri-partisan approach that will allow the Minster to make bold changes to the whole structure of ACTION, including its workforce.

“All parties must agree on the need for:

– Employment arrangements that reflect the nature of running a modern public transport system
– New routes to focus on Rapid-Direct services, starting with additional REDEX routes
– ACTPLA must incorporate public transport needs from the beginning of suburb design and re-development
– The new ticketing system must roll out effectively with a cautious approach to avoid expensive system collapses seen elsewhere
– Continued infrastructure improvements

But will all parties sign up to the same vision?

What’s Your opinion?

How about they wake up to themselve and try to look at other issues or look at the deeper problems.

How about you visit their website, or listen to Legislative Assembly debates, or even just read the RiotACT every now and then? They offer views and proposals across every portfolio.

Its all nice and easy to demand improvements when you sit on the fence and don’t actually have to DO any of the work.

When you say “do any of the work”, do you mean, for example, taking notice of the many interesting debates taking place in your community? It’s clearly too hard for some.

Funnily enough, mobilephone, the solution to a crappy bus service is better public transport.

It seems that the Greens typical solution to anything in Canberra is ‘Public Transport’ and ‘Live music’. How about they wake up to themselve and try to look at other issues or look at the deeper problems. Its all nice and easy to demand improvements when you sit on the fence and don’t actually have to DO any of the work.

I don’t know about this.. All these new-fangled ideas..
All sounds a little bit too hard.

(I suppose all the “must’s” will be changed to “aspire to’s” before its too late)
