The Greens’ Shane Rattenbury has announced Green plans for a $500,000 off road trail bike facility at Pierces Creek:

The ACT Greens have committed $500,000 in capital works to establish an off-road trail bike facility at Pierces Creek.

“This proposal has been around for a number of years and the Greens think the time has come to see it built. Riders are crying out for a site and we believe it is a sensible proposal with a number of benefits”, said Shane Rattenbury MLA, ACT Greens Spokesperson for Sport and Recreation.

“A designated trail bike facility would be a win-win for both riders and the environment.

“Currently some riders are riding in nature reserves without lawful authorisation.

“Creating a designated facility will benefit the environment by making use of a location away from sensitive conservation areas and one where better erosion controls are in place.

“It will also allow riders to take their family to a legal facility and the Greens think that is fair enough.
