The Liberals’ Vicki Dunne is huffing and puffing to the ABC about the results of her epic FOI haul into correspondence between the Human Rights Commission and The Greens:

Liberal MLA Vicki Dunne says emails, released under freedom of information, show the Greens sought advise from the Human Rights Commission on questions to ask during parliamentary hearings.

“Non-executive members of the ACT Legislative Assembly or any other parliament do not have the right to go to public servants and say ‘here is my policy, cost it’,” she said.

Greens Leader Meredith Hunter says her party has done nothing wrong.

“I’m not aware of a request for costings on a policy, but it might have been within a general inquiry around where we’re putting forward this idea and have you got any thoughts around that,” she said.

‘advise’ eh?

Anyway, isn’t Human Rights Commissioner independent? There’s a problem with consulting independent people is there?

Maybe it was the concept of ‘policy development’ that really confused the Liberals.
