The ACT Greens have announced that they’re after an office manager.

An exciting opportunity exists within the ACT Greens Party for an Office Manager responsible for handling administration, reception, constituent enquiries and general correspondence, as well as providing general assistance to the party in its day-to-day activities.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including a good phone manner and the ability to work cooperatively with a broad range of people are essential.

The Office Manager will be computer literate and able to handle competing demands, prioritise tasks, complete tasks on time and work effectively with minimal supervision.

They neglect to mention that experience herding cats would be preferable.

I hope they don’t have the same management culture as some ACT community sector agencies used to have. (or may still). I recall years ago Havelock House advertised a similar position – and were offering some 20 per cent below a reasonable wage. The seemed to be dressing this up as “community benefit” as the rationale, or some such. Or just “community jobs have to pay less”. Then it turned out that the pay was to come out of a bucket of money with an ample amount to pay a fair, standard salary to all the staff. The managers intended that every dollar squeezed from that junior office employee’s pay was going to be added to the managers’ pay – on top of the standard manager rate.

pommy bastard – you need opposable thumbs to manage most office work. Your candidate, though green AND attractive, would never survive the interview.

Might as well. I hate job ads that are coy about the pay. Why can’t they give the range of the award they’ll be paying under? In this field, you can’t even apply on spec. You see some ads that have a vast list of skills and attributes, and the pay can be anywhere from $30k -$80k.

Is a liking for lentils and boiled cabbage essential?

Additional information :

” While not essential, it would be an advantage to applicants if they have viewed “An Inconvenient Truth” and attended a course to be a climate ambassador to promote the film.

A further advantage would be the ability to list endangered species whenever there is a proposal to development land. Also, the ability to categorise summer heat waves as proof of global warming while treating unusally cool periods as weather would be advantageous”.

Yoh, here’s an opportunity for the slack jawed one!

Maybe someone’s smelly armpit has caused the Greens’ server to crash?

Are dreadlocks compulsory?

It now seems to be at /archive/953.
