Greens unveil their 2011 budget proposals

Many of these ideas sound reasonable. However, as usual with the Greens, I see absolutely zero mention of how these things are going to be paid for. Where are the ideas for encouraging businesses/entrepreneurship, and reducing red tape?

Sounds to me like a pretty good reason to increase funding.

I can’t see anything on that list anyone would have a problem with.
Green waste bins? Bring them on. I need one already and our garden is only 2 years old and we have two compost bins and a worm farm. I’d be shot without the trailer – or just dumping it all in the waste bin, whcih defeats the purpose. (In Maroochy Shire we did an extensive survey and found that 67% of all garbage bin content was organic. They now have three wheelie bins.)
Street recycling bins/collection – tick. (Worked pretty damn well at the Folk Festival – cudos to Orana for running that project.)
More water bubblers – tick.
Shopfront – tick.
Better pathway lighting – tick.
You get the drift.

Red Rapid in Tuggeranong sounds good. If I could get to work by bus quickly and without the need for transfers I would do so. As things currently stand I’m quite happy to continue saving huge wads of time as a single occupant car driver.

Cant believe im saying this but I support some of the things on the Greens budget. Something not listed in Johnboys excerpt its three quarters of a million for a Gungahlin Govvie Shopfront. That I can support.

Improved community path lighting would also be good up in Gunners which is in their proposal.

It is puzzling how the Greens are beating the Families drum when people are the cause of all the ills the Greens say they want to fix. Take a turd, call it a Family and everyone will praise it.

I find their Red Rapid duplication a little odd though. Beclonnen and Tuggers both have the 300 series. Perhaps it could work in Tuggeranong as they are a fair distance from the city but how would a Red Rapdi in Belconne work? Going down Gininderra drive to Kippax perhaps? It seems rather strange and pointless to me
