The ABC is letting us all know that efforts by the Liberals’ Jeremy Hanson to censure Katy Gallager over the reclassification of patients who can’t be treated within arbitrary performance metrics have come to naught with the Greens voting with the Government.

Opposition Health spokesman Jeremy Hanson told the Assembly the document contradicts Health Minister Katy Gallagher’s earlier comments.

“She deserves to be censured for misleading the community and the assembly,” he said.

Ms Gallagher has rejected the accusation.

“I take my responsibility in keeping the assembly updated with accurate information very seriously,” she said.

The waiting list classification controversy has meant my son is actually going to get his Cat 2 tonsillectomy in a coupla weeks (after waiting over 300 days – cat 2 is supposed to be 90 days). Thanks Jeremy for raising this issue.

I would also like to point out this is not my family’s first experience of dodgy waiting times. A few years ago I finally got a cat 3 op (after waiting three years instead of one), but only after ringing Brendan Smith’s office and asking him to look into it.

While I was pretty disgruntled that my condition was deteriorating, causing pain and restricting my activity due to the wait, the poison icing in the cake was that the surgical waiting list people (or someone) had altered my waiting time commencement date to several months after I actually went on the list.

I would not be surprised at all if there is still some dodgy data shifting.

Ah Lady Gallagher (sorry, GalaHER)…
