ACT Policing is investigating an attempted aggravated robbery in Griffith last night (Friday, August 13).

Around 6.15pm, a woman returned to her car which was parked on Flinders Way in Griffith. After getting into her car, a man armed with a firearm got into the passenger’s side of the vehicle and demanded money.

The victim opened the driver’s side door and yelled out for help. A group of young men came to the woman’s assistance, and the man left the vehicle.

The group of men followed the man, who was last seen getting into a blue coloured Ford Falcon XR6 parked on Light Street.

No one was injured during the attempted aggravated robbery.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his late thirties, with a heavy build, brown hair and was wearing a grey coloured “hoodie” jumper.

Let’s hope the Coppers take more care over their field work than they do their admin.

Oh, so now, as well as Commodores, we have to keep an eye out for Falcons too. Gonna make things a bit hard, haha.

I am surprised however that she had the passenger side unlocked, there are ways to get your drivers door only to unlock.

Not on my car (at least, not without some wire clippers and a bit of time – and then it’s even more of a pain to change back…), and I suspect not on a number of others either.

Nice work to the lads who intervened. Always good to be reminded that there’s plenty of good out there in the community 🙂

Glad she wasn’t injured, I hope the lowlife gets caught and congrats to the people who stepped in – I am surprised however that she had the passenger side unlocked, there are ways to get your drivers door only to unlock.

Respect to the woman for having the guts not to go along with the vermin, and to the people who helped out. A shame they didn’t catch him and kick him until the cops arrived.

I would’ve given in, I mean if he had a gun. I’d give him the cash, pretty risky to yell out like that.

Very refreshing to hear of such a good outcome. Good on those people who came to the rescue. I expect to see them getting soem of those bravery medals next round… the bloke had a gun.

Well done to the folk who jumped in and helped – its nice to know that still happens.

As for the scumbag who did this, let’s hope that the AFP grab this mongrel quickly!
