ACT Policing is investigating an attempted aggravated robbery in Griffith last night (Friday, August 13).
Around 6.15pm, a woman returned to her car which was parked on Flinders Way in Griffith. After getting into her car, a man armed with a firearm got into the passenger’s side of the vehicle and demanded money.
The victim opened the driver’s side door and yelled out for help. A group of young men came to the woman’s assistance, and the man left the vehicle.
The group of men followed the man, who was last seen getting into a blue coloured Ford Falcon XR6 parked on Light Street.
No one was injured during the attempted aggravated robbery.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his late thirties, with a heavy build, brown hair and was wearing a grey coloured “hoodie” jumper.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or may have seen a man or vehicle matching the above descriptions in the Griffith area around 6.15pm yesterday to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
