GU Manuka now an Event Cinema

I’ve just noticed that when I went to the Greater Union website, I am redirected to the Event Cinemas website.

I’m wondering what the significance is for GU Manuka – one cinema definitely in need of a major upgrade… Does anyone have any info?

Also, has anyone who has visited the new website (http://www.eventcinemas.com.au) worked out how I can print the full week’s sessions for GU Manuka for all the films?

According to the Event cinemas website and B&T, only 11 GU/BCC cinemas are being converted to Event cinemas – Manuka is not one of them. The rest just use the Eventcinemas website to list session times, but are still Greater Union or Birch Carroll & Coyle.

BTW, if you want to see a full week’s session times, try this website http://www.yourmovies.com.au

From reading their website it look like the cinema will be improved but become more than just a movie cinema, but also show “live music, concerts, sporting matches and special events”.

Sounds pretty good to me.

Heritage listed building – upgrades would come at great expense I think.

Greater Union are Event Cinemas are Greater Union – just a rebranding.

Apparently it means the place has been upgraded.

I have some GU vouchers, I wonder if the new owners will honour these vouchers, as Manuka GU is the only one of its brand in the ACT.

It looks like Greater Union have re-branded themselves as Event Cinemas.
