TAMS are letting people know that the Gudgenby Reay-Cut Cottage is available for hire:

Canberrans were today encouraged to consider the historical Gudgenby Ready-Cut Cottage in Namadgi National Park for their community based activities and projects.

“Hudson’s Ready-Cut Homes were at their peak in the first half of the 20th century and Canberrans have the opportunity to experience an original one first hand with Gudgenby Ready-Cut Cottage, which was built in 1927,” Brett McNamara, Regional Manager, National Parks and Catchments said.

“Gudgenby Ready-Cut Cottage can be hired for a range of uses, accommodating up to eight people overnight in its three bedrooms, or facilitating larger groups of up to 12 people during the day.

“The cottage is available for activities that promote Namadgi National Park’s natural and cultural heritage. The cottage is available for education and training activities, indigenous and historical activities, artists in residence programs, volunteer activities and research or academic studies.

“Recently the cottage was used by Craft ACT’s artists in residence who drew inspiration from the local flora and fauna for their artwork.

“This little cottage allows you to truly appreciate the majestic beauty of the bushland and wildlife that makes Namadgi so stunning.”

Unless waived by the Area Manager, the following fees and charges apply.
• The cost of hiring the cottage is $30 (GST included) per person per night and, for day use, $15 (GST included) per person per day. This will be charged at the time of booking.
• A refundable key deposit of $150 is payable at check-in. The keys must be returned at check-out and the key deposit will then be refunded to the Hirer.
• A maintenance bond of $500 will be charged per booking. This will also be payable at check-in. The bond will be fully refundable and collected via credit card, but held until park staff have confirmed that no excessive cleaning or maintenance is required as a result of the occupancy.

Sounds like a budget trip away. Not
