Shadow Minister for Women Giulia Jones is not overly thrilled at ACT Labor’s plans to cut funding for Toora House.

Toora House is a shelter for women suffering as from domestic violence and abuse issues.

Guilia fears that the loss of dunding will cause the shelter to shut down.

“Toora House should be a priority for the government. The staff and programsat Toora House help women who are on the very edge of coping and who rely on these services when they are at their lowest,” Mrs Jones said.

“How can the government spend $300,000 for a hot air balloon but not continue funding for the women in our community most at risk?

“How many more women’s and children’s services will we see funding cuts to in the lead up to the Budget next Tuesday?

“I will be seeking answers from the government about this issue and asking if there are any further cuts coming with the Budget announcement next week,” Mrs Jones concluded.
