GCC’s August meeting is on tonight (second Wednesday each month as usual) from 7.30pm at the Gungahlin Library downstairs conference room.

Special guest is Simon Corbell, ACT Minister for a whole bunch of things that are near and dear to the people of Gungahlin – transport and planning chief among them.

No doubt the prioritised public transport for the Northbourne/Flemington corridor will be a key topic, and are they really serious with their recent talk about light rail being back on the agenda?

One response Gungahlin people won’t be happy about is that fixing the bottleneck on the south end of Flemington Road is “not in the plan”.

*eye twitch*

Thanks for the update – I was interested in attending this but unfortunately I had prior commitments.

With all the big important “planning” they do, it’s a source of eternal wonder that they can’t prevent these things from happening in the first place.

If you can’t make the meeting but have a burning question, you can leave it on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com.gungahlin and we’ll try to put it to Minister Corbell on your behalf.

I’ll also as usual live-post key points from the meeting to Facebook.

It is always good to paste real URLs rather than typing them, or at least to check that it actually works. Last period should be a slash.

Big oops. Thanks for that Patrick. A typo in a rush.

Corbell fell ill late in the arvo so several senior TAMS execs attended in his stead. There was a good meeting with almost two hours of rapid fire Q&As. I tried to capture most of the key issues to a Facebook article so others can catch up. Was also able to put a number of questions asked via that forum (before and during the meeting) to the guests. A number of commitments to investigate issues raised and solid answers on many others.

Thanks to everyone who attended. The meeting video will be posted soon as we can compress/upload/etc.
