Gungahlin Community Council September Meeting and AGM

It’s our Annual General Meeting. All executive positions are open to anyone interested. We have incumbents willing to continue in most positions. But we do need to fill the president vacancy (we have some candidates for that role) and a person experienced with InDesign to be Editor of our newsletter Gungahlin Smokesignals (a.k.a. GunSmoke). Anyone from Gungahlin can nominate for any of the positions on the night.

Guest this month are:

Fred Kasparek (Architect) to display preliminary plans for a development on Flemington Road
Ron Bell (CIC) to discuss a new community development in Crace
Gai Beecher (College Principal) to give an update on the Gungahlin College
Steven Bowers (Burgmann Principal) to discuss traffic issues around Burgmann Anglican School.

Yes it’s a packed agenda. See you there.

Following the AGM last night, GCC has filed the President vacancy, with Ewan Brown elected. Welcome aboard Ewan!

Peter Elford continues as VP (and NBN spokesman), Jacob Vadakkedath as Secretary, Kevin Cox as Public Officer and Francis Steigler as Treasurer. Continuing in non-executive roles are David Bockett as Web Admin and me as spokesman for planning, transport and environment issues.

As mentioned above, we could really do with someone with InDesign skills to take over the GunSmoke design role.

And we’d welcome some Gungahlin women getting involved, because we’re conscious of it being all blokey lately…

Nope and nope. It’s a community organisation – not a local government.
But you do get the persoanl satisfaction of being able to influence government decisions and thereby make your community a better place in which to live and bring your kids up.
