insufficient grounds to detain Captain Emad . What a cover up by the Labour government. Julian Assange is being held on allegations from nobody and yet he is fighting extradition to Sweeden and the Australian government and Bob Carr seem not to car one iota about his situation. Maybe if Assange was an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT he would be given all the taxpayer funded lawyers with UN backing and be back home in Australia a long time ago.

Gillard and her cronies GTFO you are an embarrassment to the country

If his family also fled Australia, I hope their departure at least frees up some govt housing for those in need of it.

Like lazy uni students who live on rafts.

Sorry but lol. A man who made a fortune off people smuggling, conned australa into giving him a house and possibly a pension, got a trolley contract and possibly responsible for the deaths of dozens of people, legally was aloud to leave the country and go into hiding.

Nice one authoritie.

You drunk or what?

Not only that, the AFP had been investigating this and knew about Cpt. Emad for two years.

It looks like 4Corners f*cked a potentially valuable investigation to weed out these low breeds.

I’m sure the careerists at the top of the AFP would have embarassed the Government by charging a person with refugee status with being a people smuggler.

Ahhhh just like being back in the UK.

One can only hope that he took one of his own boats and it does a usual trick of catching on fire, starts to sink or explodes, somewhere half way to Indonesia.

The UN would order us to rescue him then.

Are you sure it is his family? They could be anyone’s family or individuals posing as family members. You really have to be better informed about people smuggling to realize that what seems to be what it is is actually something else.

I wonder whose passport he used.

Based on the AFP’s statement that they didn’t have enough to arrest him, there’s no reason he couldn’t have used his own.

In fact, if he used anything *but* his own, they could have arrested him for that…

I was alluding to the fact that no one really knows his true identity. Part of his job description as a people smuggler is to fit out his customers with false papers so why wouldn’t he have a dodgy passport or two for himself?

And they stuffed up the trolley service!
