A 16-year-old male and 17-year-old male were taken into custody after an incident involving a BB gun in Garema Place, Civic, yesterday afternoon (April 6).

About 5.10pm ACT Policing received information regarding two males firing a BB hand gun at members of the public from a roof top in Garema Place in the City.

Police attended Garema Place where they closed off the building the two males were believed to be on. Police approached the males where they were apprehended without incident. The two males were taken to the City Police Station.

Police spoke to a member of the public who claimed they had been struck by a pellet. They did not require medial attention as a result of the incident.

The two juvenile males were released into the custody of their parents and will be summonsed to appear at the ACT Childrens Court at a later date.

Potting wankers at 4am would be pretty worthwhile I reckon.

More than you realise, shame those days are now long gone. Some of the folks that frequent Garema and the surrounding area need a good pinging now and then.

It was almost as much fun as photocopying one side of a fifty and glueing it to the ground out the front of the rehab centre (Karma i think it was called?).

Take these morons, put them in the Middle of Garema Place at noon tomorrow and invite members to fire whatever ammo was left in the guns straight at them. Time for this softly-softly stuff to make way for some serious discipline for once.

Why not just stone them death? right? right?

Don’t ask for a poll on this – you might be surprised at the response. I think people have had enough personally.

‘Stone them to death’?…………………………..why not!

right beside the sea monkeys ad.

Actually, I think it is legal to own and use a slingshot in the act. I have a vague recollection of seeing them for sale at a sport store somewhere.

I imagine you could double the fun by combining the two, which would also make the pinging easier by getting the target to stop.

LOL! I have a cunning plan….

I remember back when we had paper currency photocopying both sides of a $100 note (which was mostly grey), cutting them out and glueing them together. We then placed the note carefully onto the surface of a river near where we lived, and then watched as 10 minutes later a middle aged guy got half his clothes off and waded in to get it.

Gold.

AFAIK you can buy the parts over the counter, but not together. Also, you can’t have handles except for the simple Y design. Nothing that folds down and allows you to use your arm as a brace.

LOL, I remember doing the same thing when I did security around there when the tax office was being built. But we did it responsibly and only picked off wankers/junkies and other guards @ 4am from the tax office roof.

Bloody irresponsible kids.

That sounds like fun! You can buy BB guns in Walmart in the US, along with every kind of paintball gun imaginable, slingshots, and archery stuff (yuck). I didn’t think you could still get BB guns in Australia, you certainly can’t have slingshots.

In the parts of the US that I frequented until recently (rural midwest) you can buy 12 gauge shotguns, high powered centrefire rifles and all the ammo you want at walmart. There are sports stores as big as Bunnings over there that have firearm sections the size of a Supabarn.

Sigh.

Sounds like the best job ever.

I remember they used to advertise BB guns in the Archie comics I used to read when I was a young kid in the late 1960s.

Beside the ads for the x-ray specs! 😀

You can but you must be licened, the gun must be registered & you must not let it off in a public place.

While they are fun they can still have an eye out. There are air rifles now that have as much or more power than a .22 rifle .

Can I bring my .22?

Yep, dumb choice of time/place.

Having said that, how/where does one acquire a BB gun these days? I had great fun with mine (long since lost) as a kid, and would like to give my own kids a crack.
