ACT Policing’s Crime Targeting Team has arrested a 20-year-old Hughes man in possession of hair styling products after executing a search warrant at his residence earlier today (Wednesday, February 2).

During the warrant, detectives seized a number of hair products and styling equipment which have been linked to burglaries occurring at hair salons in late 2010.

Police will also allege that the man was involved in a number of thefts, stolen motor vehicle and traffic offences which occurred around the same time.

The man was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of taking a motor vehicle without consent, four counts of theft and three traffic offences.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Thursday, 3 February).

I would demand the electric chair – but it would be a disaster for his hair. Imagine all that static!

This is a terrible turn of events. It’s OK to rant and bloviate on the RiotAct about speeding bogans, blaggers, rapists and other scum. But honestly, if this is the way the criminal classes are turning it’s gonna be pretty hard to maintain the rage.

How are we going to develop a tsunami of righteous anger against someone who’s been busted by the G-men for flogging a couple of keys of stolen hair gel at the local high school? Will there be a chorus of demands to crush their curlers?

What’s next? Face cream heists? The great body lotion blagging of 2011? Where will it end?

It doesn’t bear thinking about.

I knew the fashion police existed

WTF Hair products? What he couldn’t afford his own? Or is he just a poor budding stylist wanting to start his own salon?

“WTF, hair products” was pretty close to my initial reaction the first time I saw the prices of GHD hair straighteners, which I presume is what he got nabbed with. Given that they retail for around the $300 mark and women seem to fawn over them like drunken sailors at a strip club, I’d say he would turn a tidy profit from some black market distribution.

Bit metrosexual, yes, but criminal?

The accused was brought out from his home pouting and did a stylish turn upon arrival to the paddy wagon. However his hair was ruined from touching the roof of the vehicle on entry. He was charged with being completely fabulous.

That’s hairlarious
