Handmade at the Woolshed

The construction around Albert Hall had us in a spin but we clicked our magic shears and found Handmade a new home. On the evening of Friday September 11 and Saturday September 12 Handmade will be open for trading at the historic Yarralumla Woolshed.

This hive of agricultural industry is so perfect for Handmade. There is more space for stalls, wider aisles, extra parking and a welcoming atmosphere so come and say hello to spring during Handmade in Bloom. To coincide with Floriade, Handmade in Bloom will feature a twilight boutique market from 6pm to 9pm on Friday September 11 before throwing open the doors from 10am to 4pm on Saturday September 12.

Market founder Julie Nichols says the demand for stalls and the popularity of the market has been so strong she has had to add the twilight market and is glad to have the extra space at Yarralumla.

“The new home for Handmade gives us a chance to rearrange things in a big way. Stalls will be grouped in themes

“There will be 60 stalls at the twilight market and shoppers can enjoy a glass of wine and gourmet food while they browse.

“On Saturday morning an extra 50+ stalls will be set up and the new Fashion Walk will be outside at the entrance while out the back will be a new area EAT@Handmade and the Chill out Zone, the perfect place to take a breather from all that shopping. The beautiful handmade pieces of jewellery, art and home furnishings that are synonymous with Handmade Market will be inside.

Subscribers to the Handmade newsletter at handmademarket.com.au will have the chance to win a beautiful set of blossom rings from Kidson Jewellery valued at $285.00. Market visitors will be able to purchase tickets for an exquisite quilt that was made by a lovely lady who suffered from MND. She has since passed away and her husband has donated it to Handmade with all proceeds going to Motor Neurone Disease NSW and ACT. The three previous markets have raised a total of $5853.60 to help brighten the lives of families who have someone suffering from this terrible disease.

Entrance off the Cotter Road, no ATM facilities.
There is disabled access & parking at the woolshed.

Yes, some stall holders will have… but I’d be taking cash with me for shopping as you can’t really expect very small individual businesses to have their own mobile EFT. Same as at the other local craft markets.

you’d be surprised emd… many had mobile EFT facilities, because for many this is their business.

I would expect most stalls not to have credit facilities at an event like this. They’re mostly one-woman-with-a-sewing-machine businesses who handmake everything.

It was crazy, so we have made it two days and a bigger location. Wide aisles and ramps everywhere. Stalls spread out also.

Lots of outdoors and plenty of areas to sit! Craft for the kids also.

Not ATM, lots of stalls will have credit facilities and Curtin Shops are only 4 mins away with an ATM.

some stalls had EFTPOS…

albert hall last time was a joke! you couldn’t get close enough to look at anything because of the crowds. i left after 30 mins in fear of my 3 year old getting trampled!

No ATM? Will there be EFTPOS?

This is going to be huge! Great timing too, nice way to kick off Spring.
