Hanson weeps for Kate Jackson

The Liberals’ Jeremy Hanson is taking an interesting tack on the Public Accounts Committee report into the health statistics scandal:

“The report has revealed a number of recommendations including that the government needs to review the adequacy of controls of IT systems and security of patient records,” Mr Hanson said today.

“The fact that the Committee has also recommended that the government should conduct a review into the organisational culture at The Canberra Hospital does confirm the sick culture that forced the executive to alter the data in the first place.

“On top of this advice the Committee has recommended that the Government should issue a public apology for failing to protect the privacy of the executive that altered that emergency department data.

Bollocks. The public expectation is that said executive should be named and shamed in the hope they never work in the ACTGS/APS ever again. Personally, I would be happier with a good old fashioned tarring and feathering.

Seems to me more like being a hypocrite than “an interesting tack” though technically they could be taken as the same thing. Hanson has been banging on at Gallagher for not more clearly specifying her family connections to Jackson earlier when the scandal broke. Wonder if he’s considered that by doing so it would probably have identified the named culprit even earlier in the process and now he wants the same gumbymint to apologise for not protecting her privacy.

I didn’t think it was possible but my opinion of him has dropped even further than it was.
