Two men will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Monday, March 5) charged with property damage and theft after they were found with three parking meters in the rear seat of their car.

ACT Policing’s Woden Patrol members were in Furneaux Street, Griffith around 4.35am yesterday morning (Sunday, March 4) when they found a parked vehicle with all its doors open, the engine running, and two men acting suspiciously.

One of the men fled from the area on foot when police arrived. Police found the vehicle to contain three stolen parking meters and a battery-powered cutting saw. Nearby were three recently cut parking meter poles.

One of the offenders remained with the vehicle and was taken into custody while the second was arrested a short time later.

A 19-year-old man of no fixed abode has been charged with property damage, theft, drive whilst disqualified and other traffic offences. A 39-year-old man from Gowrie has been charged with property damage and theft.

if they were to start harvesting the fixed/point to point speed cameras, they would get my vote for Australians of the Year.
